Purpose of a thyroid ultrasound : To obtain images of the thyroid gland and surrounding structures.
How long will this procedure take?
This thyroid ultrasound will take up to 30 minutes.

Thyroid Ultrasound Procedure:
The technologist will ask you to tilt your head back and will apply gel to your neck area and create images of the thyroid gland. During the study, the technologist will move the transducer across your neck to best demonstrate the anatomy and will take various measurements of the thyroid gland.
After the Thyroid Ultrasound :
The radiologist will study your images and dictate a report which will be sent to your physician within 2-3 business days.
