To check for bulging (aneurysm) in the abdominal aorta to detect, diagnose or monitor it and prevent life threatening rupture.
This exam takes up to 30 minutes.
You will be asked to lie on a table where a technologist will apply a gel to your mid abdomen and move a transducer to various points across your abdomen in order to best demonstrate anatomy. You may be asked to hold your breath for a short time to capture an image.
The radiologist will study your images and dictate a report, which will be sent to your physician within 3–5 business days.
