Evaluates heart’s condition, pumping function, detects valve defects, heart muscle issues, fluid around the heart or congenital problems.
This exam takes up to 30-60 minutes.
You will be asked to lie on a table where a technologist will apply a gel to your left chest and move a transducer to various points across your chest in order to best demonstrate anatomy. You may be asked to hold your breath for a short time to capture an image.
The radiologist will study your images and dictate a report, which will be sent to your physician within 3–5 business days.
