Prostate Ultrasound

A prostate ultrasound is a non-invasive scan used to evaluate the size, shape, and overall condition of the prostate gland. At Affordable Ultrasound we use this exam to assess for prostate enlargement, monitor changes over time, and support your physician's evaluation of urinary symptoms. Our sonographers may ask about your health history and any symptoms you've been experiencing to help tailor the scan and report to your specific needs.

Why a Prostate Ultrasound?

  • Included as part of routine men's health screening
  • Used to evaluate urinary symptoms such as frequent urination, weak stream, or difficulty starting/stopping
  • Helps assess prostate enlargement, commonly known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
  • Assists physicians in following up on elevated PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) results
  • Supports monitoring of known prostate conditions over time

Kidney & Abdominal Health

A kidney ultrasound is a safe, painless scan that allows us to examine the size, shape, and structure of your kidneys, as well as look for stones, cysts, blockages, or other abnormalities. It's frequently used to help physicians investigate symptoms such as flank pain, changes in urination, or abnormal lab results, and to monitor known kidney conditions over time.

What can a Kidney Ultrasound help identify?

  • Kidney stones and their approximate size or location
  • Hydronephrosis, or swelling of the kidney due to a blockage in urine flow
  • Cysts or masses within the kidney
  • Signs of infection or inflammation
  • Changes in kidney size that may indicate an underlying condition

Echo (Heart) Ultrasound

An echocardiogram, or heart ultrasound, is a non-invasive scan that allows us to see your heart's chambers, valves, and major vessels in motion. It helps assess how well your heart is pumping, evaluate heart valve function, and support your physician's investigation of symptoms such as chest discomfort, shortness of breath, or an irregular heartbeat.

Why an Echocardiogram?

  • Evaluates overall heart function and pumping strength (ejection fraction)
  • Assesses the four heart valves for narrowing or leakage
  • Helps investigate symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, or shortness of breath
  • Supports monitoring of known heart conditions, including after a cardiac event
  • Often requested as part of a pre-surgical cardiac clearance

Hernia (Soft Tissue) Ultrasound

A hernia occurs when an internal organ or tissue pushes through a weak spot in the surrounding muscle wall, often appearing as a noticeable bulge in the abdomen or groin. A soft tissue ultrasound is a quick, painless way to evaluate a suspected hernia, confirm its size and location, and help your physician distinguish it from other possible causes of a lump or swelling.

Why a Hernia Ultrasound?

  • Confirms whether a bulge or lump is a hernia
  • Identifies the type and location of the hernia (inguinal, umbilical, incisional, and more)
  • Helps determine whether the hernia is reducible or may need prompt medical attention
  • Assists your physician with pre-surgical planning if repair is recommended
  • Distinguishes a hernia from other causes of swelling, such as a cyst or lymph node

Scrotal Ultrasound

A scrotal ultrasound with Doppler is used to evaluate the testicles and surrounding structures, including blood flow. It's one of the most effective, painless tools available to help physicians investigate testicular pain, swelling, or a lump, and to assess overall scrotal health. Our sonographers approach every exam with professionalism and discretion, and are happy to answer any questions you have about the process beforehand.

Why a Scrotal Ultrasound?

  • Evaluates sudden or persistent testicular pain and swelling
  • Helps assess a lump or mass noticed during self-exam
  • Uses Doppler technology to check blood flow, important in evaluating conditions like testicular torsion
  • Assists in identifying common findings such as varicocele, hydrocele, or epididymitis
  • Can support a broader male fertility work-up
